“˜My Nation, My Passion´

During the function, the students presented various programmes including religious songs, speeches and patriotic songs.
The Minister of State for Home Affairs, Mr. Kiren Rijiju addressed at the function organized by the National Foundation for Communal Harmony at the National Police Memorial on Nov 24. The programme was organized as a part of activities being organized on the occasion of celebration of “Communal Harmony Week“ being observed from November 19-25, 2016. The students from various schools representing different religious communities participated in the function. During the function, the students presented various programmes including religious songs, speeches and patriotic songs.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Kiren Rijiju said that to assemble at the National Police Memorial is a tribute to the martyrs. He said that the uniform does not differentiate the security forces on the basis of religion. They all are providing security in the border areas.

The MoS said that the students participating in the programme represent the student community of the country. He said that it is very encouraging to see these students here and termed it a “˜harmonious gathering´.
Appreciating the students for their talent exhibited through their performances at the programme, Mr. Rijiju said that this shows that they are getting good education in their schools. He congratulated the institutions for their efforts in nourishing these children. He said that these days students are fortunate to have many avenues to add to their knowledge, one of the important medium being internet. He said that the students should make every effort to enhance their knowledge by taking advantage of these mediums available to them.
Mr. Kiren Rijiju appealed to the students to spread the message of communal harmony to other parts of the country when they go back. He said in future each child will take different course in his life and will get an opportunity to serve the country. He appealed to the students that they should never get swayed by the appeals made by any group to divide them on the basis of religion, caste or region.
Speaking on the occasion, the Special Secretary (Internal Security), Ministry of Home Affairs, Mr. Mahesh Kumar Singla said that this is a good initiative taken by the Foundation. He said that the Police Commemoration Day celebrated on 21st October this year was observed for the first time at the National Police Memorial and the Union Home Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh had participated in the Parade. He also told the children the role of Paramilitary forces in the safety and security of the nation. He said that the National Police Memorial is a “˜sacred place´ and remembers the supreme sacrifices made by the security forces irrespective of their religions.
On the above occasion, MoS Mr. Kiren Rijiju also inaugurated the social media platform of “˜My Nation, My Passion´. A pledge was also administered to the participants on the occasion.

The Secretary, National Foundation of Communal Harmony Mr. Awadh Kumar Singh, the DG, ITBP Mr. Krishna Chaudhary, DG, CISF Mr. O. P. Singh and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
