USPA NEWS - On January 10, 2017, at UNESCO Headquarters in PARIS, was held a Press Conference regarding ENERGY OBSERVER, the First Experimental Multi-Energy Catamaran. Were attending the main partners of this unique project :
On January 10, 2017, at UNESCO Headquarters in PARIS, was held a Press Conference regarding ENERGY OBSERVER, the First Experimental Multi-Energy Catamaran. Were attending the main partners of this unique project :

* Victorien ERUSSARD : Skipper, Merchant Navy Officer, President of ENERGY OBSERVER. Main initiator of the Project.

* Jérôme DELAFOSSE : Explorer, Filmmaker, Expedition Leader

* Nicolas HULOT : Partner, the Founder and President of the Fondation Nicolas-Hulot, an environmental group. Known in France for his Documentary show 'Ushuaïa' which focuses on nature and the environment. His popularity has provided him with some influence in the French political debate.

ENERGY OBSERVER, which was currently built in SAINT MALO, is a revolutionary boat intended as an open-air laboratory. The vessel is totally energy-sufficient thanks to the use of a complete hydrogen chain which for the first time includes fuel cells and renewable energy electrolyzer systems (wind power, solar panels or hydro generators).

ENERGY OBSERVER was baptized in Paris in 2016 before embarking on its round-the-world trip to 50 countries, with 101 stopovers and 2,000 days of sailing. The ENERGY OBSERVER team´s mission will be to test the latest and most innovative clean energy technologies as it sails the seas and during its 101 stopovers around the world. ENERGY OBSERVER will count with UNESCO´s support as it carries out its mission, to promote renewable energies and raise awareness of energy transition challenges.

As it will be sailing across the world during six years without a drop of fossil fuel, with 101 stops planned between 2017 and 2022 in the world's maritime capitals, historic ports, nature reserves or at major international events, the first zero carbon footprint ship will have the institution onboard. Drawing energy from nature, without damaging or wasting it, is ENERGY OBSERVER´s vision for the future. In an unprecedented accomplishment, the boat combines various sources of renewable energies to produce its own hydrogen from sea water and store it on board.
- The Expedition will be as follow :

* 2017 = The Tour de France (from Spring 2017, three locations, three Events, three Highlights to remember)
* 2018 = Mediterranean
* 2019 = Northern Europe
* 2010 = Americas
* 2021 = Oceania and Asia
* 2022 = Asia and Africa
