When is a vacuum sale a scam? When it costs $8000.00

The $8000 vacuum

USPA NEWS - Scrupulous sales people are tricking seniors and the disabled into a long term contract that sells a vacuum, and finances it to the amount of $8000.00 if the purchase it not paid in full in two months.
The sales people lure with a promise of a vacuum that will last 8 years for low monthly payments of just $9.99? Hares the catch: The customer will pay $9.99 for the first month the 2nd month if the customer does not pay the contract off fees and interest inflates a $1000.00 vacuum 800% to nearly $8000.00 paid off at nearly 10% per month not 10% a year.
Most good vacuums should cost less than $400
The actual vacuum is made in Germany and costs less than $400.00 retail and includes a 5 year warranty along with a lifetime upgrade to a new model every 5years for $240.00. The wholesale version with no warranty is less than $300.00. In this case a customer should go direct for the best deal.

Another variation to this scam sells an extended warranty and cleaning and maintenance contract for another $1000.00 which is included if the customer went direct. My next article in this series will include a new scam involving sending money to a relative out of state.

I will try to write about a new scam every month or so to keep my readers informed. Please pass this on to your parents and older loved ones
