USPA NEWS - Unusually dry weather, low humidity, dry grass, hot heat, lightning = a perfect storm with over 13 fires draining the resources of CAL-FIRE and US Forrest Service on the West Coast USA, Especially CA.

The amount of evacuations, loss to homes is simply catastrophic and unprecedented.

A really bad fire season is upon the west coast with unprecedented damage to land, structures, and animals. So far human loss of life as been only 1 individual a home owner who good not get away from the intense heat.

The many men and women of CAL-Fire and the Department of Corrections Inmate fire patrol is providing amazing assistance. This is going to be a long season which is only half done. Fires can start as early as late April and last until October.

The perfect storm of dry weather, thunder, lightning and brittle dry grass is perfect kindle for any disaster. Some say the current system is outdated and the state needs to look into better advance detection technology to allow better and earlier outbreak prevention.

The states size and land mast is bigger than most countries and it is said if California was a country it would be the 7th largest and with that and the fact the state has so much land it is a major strain on resources.

Most workers who work the fires work the equivalent of a 50 hour workweek of a whole year in 5 months as a seasonal employee compared to a 40 hour a week employee who works the whole year.

The men and women who make up CAL-Fire and the California Department of Fire along with the Inmate Team provide services when needed in the US and even when our teams are supposed to rest in the Winter they often go to Australia to provide training and assistance. Australia also provides training and assistance for over 20 years as well.
