Accepted Method for dealing with Individual and Community Violence is Punishment of Offenders through Incarceration. Little is understood, however, about whether Prisons really work to reduce or prevent the Spread of Violence in Society.

The Mafia in the United States emerged in Impoverished Italian Immigrant Neighborhoods or Ghettos in New York's East Harlem, the Lower East Side, and Brooklyn. It also emerged in other Areas of the East Coast of the United States and several other Major Metropolitan Areas during the late 19th Century and early 20th Century, following Waves of Italian Immigration especially from Sicily and other Regions of Southern Italy. The Press also coined the Name "National Crime Syndicate" to refer to the entire Network of U.S. Organized Crime, which includes the Jewish Mafia Elements and the Italian-American Mafia. It was described as a Confederation of mainly Italian and Jewish-American Organized Crime Groups throughout the U.S., as revealed by the Findings of a U.S. Senate Special Committee in the 1950s chaired by Estes Kefauver.

Revenge has been part of Human Behaviour for almost as long as we have existed on Earth. Literature has used it throughout History, from Greek Tragedies to Shakespeare´s Hamlet. Many of us have no doubt imagined Vengeance against those who have wronged us, or even lashed out at them. Revenge is a Powerful Emotional Trigger that mobilises People into action. "It's this very Pervasive Experience in Human Lives, People from every Society understand the Idea of getting angry and wanting to hurt someone who has harmed you," says Evolutionary Psychologist Michael McCullough, of the University of Miami, who has spent over a Decade studying Revenge and Forgiveness.

Breslin's Career as an Investigative Journalist led him to cultivate Ties with various Mafia and Criminal Elements in the City, not always with Positive Results. In 1970, he was viciously attacked and beaten at The Suite, a Restaurant then owned by Lucchese Crime Family Associate Henry Hill. The Attack was carried out by Irish Mobster Jimmy Burke, who objected to an Article Breslin had written involving another member of the Lucchese Family, Paul Vario. Breslin suffered a Major Concussion and Nosebleeding, but survived the Ordeal without any Permanent Injury.

Wilbrook in Western Australia is a Sleepy, Remote Town that sits on the edge of miles and miles of Unexplored Wilderness. He was drugged and driven to a Cabin in the Mountains and tied up in Iron Chains. The Man who took him was called Heath. Heath told Gabriel he was going to be Number 55. His 55th Victim.... Heath is a Serial Killer.

As a Manhunt is launched, a Man who says he is Heath walks into the same Station. He tells Chandler he was taken by a Man named Gabriel. Gabriel told Heath he was going to be Victim 55. Gabriel is the Serial Killer.... Two Suspects.... Two Identical Stories.... Which one is the Truth? As the scale of the Investigation becomes clear, Chandler is forced to call in backup from the nearest City, and an Old Colleague, Inspector Mitchell Andrews. Mitch grew up in Wilbrook and long since escaped to the Big City for Promotion and Prestige and has returned for Personal Glory and to score a Victory against his Old Partner.... We are shown Flashbacks into the Case that drove Chandler and Mitch apart all those years ago. It is clear that it has some Importance to the Larger Picture of the Plot as a Whole but it is teased so slowly and carefully that we only find out enough to support the Continuing Plot of the Novel.
