Rolling Stones; postpone tour after;Wren Scott

USPA News - British rock band `The Rolling Stones` have postponed their Australia and New Zealand tour following the apparent suicide of Mick Jagger`s girlfriend L`Wren Scott, the group announced on Tuesday, promising to reschedule the shows at a later date. The band said they planned to reschedule the six shows in Australia and one show in New Zealand at a later date.
"Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood wish to thank all of their fans for their support at this difficult time and hope that they will fully understand the reason for this announcement," the statement said. The first show was scheduled to take place at Perth Arena in Western Australia on Wednesday, followed by a show at Adelaide Oval in South Australia on Saturday and a March 25 show at the Sydney Super Dome in the country`s largest city. Later shows were planned at Melbourne Rod Laver Arena on March 28, Macedon Ranges Hanging Rock on March 30, Brisbane Entertainment Center on April 2, and at Mt Smart Stadium in Auckland, New Zealand on April 5. "The Rolling Stones are planning to reschedule these postponed shows at a later date," the band`s management said in Tuesday`s statement. "Australia/New Zealand promoters ask ticket holders to please hold on to their tickets until further notice. A new schedule of dates is presently being worked on and will be advised as soon as possible." The `14 On Fire` tour is scheduled to move to Europe in June, with concerts in the Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Belgium. Also on Tuesday, Jagger spoke about his girlfriend`s death for the first time in a brief message posted on his Facebook account, calling Scott his "lover and best friend" and praising her talent. He said he had been "touched" by tributes paid to Scott, a renowned stylist and fashion designer, and by personal messages of support sent to him. "I am still struggling to understand how my lover and best friend could end her life in this tragic way. We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves," Jagger said. "She had great presence and her talent was much admired, not least by me. ... I will never forget her." Scott, 47, was found dead at 10:05 a.m. local time on Monday when her assistant went to her penthouse apartment on 11th Avenue in the Chelsea neighborhood on the West Side of Manhattan. New York media said the fashion designer was found hanged from a scarf on a doorknob. New York Police Department spokesman Detective Mark Nell said officers arrived at the scene just after 10 a.m. and found Scott "unconscious and unresponsive." Paramedics also responded and pronounced her dead upon arrival. The medical examiner`s office has yet to determine an official cause and manner of death, though police are treating Scott`s death as a suspected suicide. In the hours after Scott`s death, Jagger`s spokesperson said the `Rolling Stones` co-founder was "completely shocked and devastated by the news." Jagger, who had just arrived in Australia to give a show at Perth Arena on Wednesday, had been dating Scott since 2001. Born Luann Bambrough, Scott was raised by adoptive parents in Utah and began her career as a model before moving to Los Angeles to become a fashion stylist, according to a biography on her company`s website. She was a renowned stylist and fashion designer whose clothes have been worn by A-listers including Nicole Kidman, Angelina Jolie, Penelope Cruz and many other celebrities. Makeup artist Bobbi Brown, who just last month worked with Scott on a cosmetics line called the `Bobbi Brown x L`Wren Scott Collection,` said she was "devastated" by the news of Scott`s death. "She was a visionary and designer who I very much enjoyed working with, but she was also smart and kind," Brown said on Monday. Last month, Scott abruptly canceled her show at the London Fashion Week, citing `production delays.`
