Gary Paffett in Top Six in second race in Moscow

USPA NEWS - Gary Paffett (EURONICS Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) books P6, Pascal Wehrlein (gooix Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) in the points in tenth place, Gooix/Original-Teile Mercedes-AMG head the team standings with a 23-point lead. Gary Paffett: “P6 means more points. Hopefully, we can get back on the podium next race.
This weekend marks the third time that the Moscow Raceway northwest of the Russian capital has hosted the DTM. Mercedes-AMG driver Pascal Wehrlein (gooix Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) won the first race on Saturday. In the second race on Sunday, Gary Paffett (EURONICS Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) was the best-placed Mercedes-AMG driver with a P6 finish. Paffett did very well in the first race, moving up 13 places during the 45-minute race into P7.

Wehrlein finished the second race in the points in tenth place. After twelve of 18 races, he is in second position in the drivers´ standings on 120 points ““ six points behind championship leader Mattias Ekström (Audi). Team gooix/Original-Teile Mercedes-AMG head the team standings with a 23-point lead. Daniel Juncadella (PETRONAS Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) came home in P13. Scottish driver Paul Di Resta (Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) crossed the finish line in 15th place.
Mercedes-AMG drivers Maximilian Götz (Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM), Lucas Auer (BWT Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) and Christian Vietoris (Original-Teile Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) placed 18th, 19th and 20th respectively. Following a no-fault collision in the first race, Vietoris´ mechanics worked without a break to repair his car in time for Sunday´s fixture. Canadian Robert Wickens (SILBERPFEIL Energy Mercedes-AMG C 63 DTM) ended the twelfth race of the season in P22.

“Obviously, I would have liked to do better than sixth place, but in view of our pace, that´s probably about right. I lost the DRS to the guys in front quite near the start. I was just fighting the whole race after that, trying to draw away from the other drivers. We weren´t quick enough to win today, but sixth place means more points. It´s tough to score points every weekend. Hopefully, we can get back on the podium next race.“
