USPA NEWS - The program "A fruit for recess" provides funding to European funds fruit and vegetable purchases for consumption by children, at school and outside meals. It helps give the taste and the pleasure of eating fruits and vegetables to younger, awareness of the diversity of fruits and vegetables.

MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE LE FOLL MOBILISES THE MAYORS ON THE DEVICE “ A FRUIT AT RECESS“ The program "A fruit for recess" provides funding to European funds fruit and vegetable purchases for consumption by children, at school and outside meals. It helps give the taste and the pleasure of eating fruits and vegetables to younger, awareness of the diversity of production of fruits and vegetables in France, and thus participate fully in education to food, one of the 4 priorities of the national program for food directed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Agri-Food and Forestry. This program was launched in the 2008-2009 academic year, in France, at the initiative of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fisheries, A fruit for recess was originally an experimental distribution share, excluding restoration school, fruit per week to children in primary schools. In 2008, 92,000 children from 556 schools had benefited ... Little used to date, the device has been renovated and simplified in July 2015, in consultation with industry professionals. The program has been made more attractive and more operational, with the introduction of a package system for financing purchases of fruits and vegetables and educational support measures. Finally it should be noted that the share of purchases of fruit and vegetables support of European funding has been increased. The EU budget in finance now purchase up to 76% against 50% previously. The refurbished device is applicable since September 2015 and Stéphane Le Foll has now transmitted electronically to all the mayors of France a brochure explaining the changes in the device so that mayors can mobilise this device in conjunction with the players in the sector . Stephane Le Foll said: "Education to food and improving food for all our citizens is a priority. The government has focused this summer, as part of the farming crisis on the development of local supplies in catering. The development of the "fruit at recess" between the same logic to improve the supply of younger and strengthen the link between agricultural production and the consumers of tomorrow.
