The beauty of wine and opera will become one on Thursday, December 3 and Saturday, Deember. 5 during 'A Taste of Rossini' Spanish wine tastings with nationally acclaimed wine expert Lyn Farmer, at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts' stylish Intermezzo Lounge. The tastings will be presented immediately before Florida Grand Opera's 7:30 p.m. performances of one of the greatest comic operas ever produced: Gioachino Rossini's 'The Barber of Seville.'
'The Barber of Seville,' which southflorida.com raves is a 'delightfully profligate production of Rossini's wildly popular, 200-year-old comic opera,' traces the adventures of handsome young Count Almaviva as he spots the lovely Rosina and courts her in spite of her jealous guardian's attempts to thwart him. Of course, he would never have succeeded without help from that crafty Figaro, who is much, much more than just a barber.
Lectures with Justin Moss, as he tells the inside story of each opera. These opera previews begin one hour before the performance in the theater. In addition, opt to stay after this performance for an informative Q&A session hosted by Florida Grand Opera's General Director and CEO Susan T. Danis and members of the senior artistic and production staff.

The unique wine tasting experience with Lyn Farmer, acclaimed wine educator and Broward Center for the Performing Arts' Arts Ambassador, will explore the comparisons of harmony and texture between wine and music.
Lyn Farmer will illustrate how to taste the difference between lighter and heavier texture in wines. He will then demonstrate how to hear texture, finding the same distinctions in Rossini's music in 'The Barber of Seville.' He will present a guided tasting of two Spanish wines (one sparkling wine and one red wine), as well as a PowerPoint with illustrative slides and audio examples.
