'Black Panther' is an upcoming movie and will also be the eighteenth installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the sixth installment of Phase Three. The Black Panther is a fictional character appearing in Marvel comics. He was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. He first appeared in Fantastic Four #52 (July 1966). He is also the first Black superhero in mainstream American comics.

This marks the third time that Michael B. Jordan will work with Ryan Coogler, who is both helming the comic book movie and writing the script with Joe Robert Cole. The first time the director and Jordan worked together was for the indie drama Fruitvale Station. The lead character, whose name is T´Challa, is the warrior king of Wakanda, Marvel´s fictional African nation that is rich in an unbreakable alloy called vibranium. 'Black Panther' has a February 16, 2018, release date, with production set to start in early 2017. 'Black Panther' won´t be Jordan´s superhero-movie debut. Last year, the actor starred as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch in Fox´s Marvel film 'Fantastic Four'. It is unclear whom Jordan would play but it could be a villain.
Michael Bakari Jordan is an American actor. His television roles include East Dillon High School quarterback Vince Howard in 'Friday Night Lights', teenage drug-dealer Wallace in 'The Wire', Reggie Montgomery in 'All My Children', and Alex in 'Parenthood'.

On film, he has played shooting victim Oscar Grant in the critically acclaimed film 'Fruitvale Station' (2013), the Human Torch in the 2015 film 'Fantastic Four', and Adonis Creed in the Rocky sequel film 'Creed' (2015). Other film roles include 'Red Tails' (2012), 'Chronicle' (2012) and 'That Awkward Moment' (2014).
