USPA NEWS - The Union Minister for Human Resource Development, Mr. Prakash Javadekar delivering the inaugural address at the National Conference on “˜Post-Paris Climate Action´, organised by IRADe, in New Delhi on July 12, 2016.

“˜India Has Taken The Lead And The World Must Follow´
Mr. Prakash Javadekar, Union Minister of Human Resource Development, stressed on developing sustainable practices among students as part of long term plan for climate change mitigation. The minister was delivering the inaugural address at the National Conference on “Post-Paris Climate Change Action´ in New Delhi on July 12, in which he reiterated the important role played by India under Prime Minister´s leadership, without which consensus was impossible in Paris Agreement.
He identified the role of HRD to make students aware and environmentally sensitive by adopting sustainable practices and low carbon lifestyle. HRD will emphasis this aspect in contributing towards fulfilling the promises made in the Paris agreement, he added.

He lauded the visionary dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in upscaling our renewable targets which changed the narrative of India´s negotiation in climate change discussions. Instead of a style of opposing the terms, we set out to propose alternative formulations and India has led from the front, he added.
Recounting the numerous visionary steps like green taxes like Coal cess, taxes on moto-emitters, Ujala scheme, ethanol blending etc,. he stated “˜India has taken the lead and the world must follow to realize the commitments´. Nations across the world are trying to be part of the “˜Solar Alliance´, the new story scripted by our Prime Minister.

He expressed full faith in his successor in Environment Ministry, Anil Dave, who is a passionate environmentalist. He also exhorted Industries and all the sectors towards achieving the commitments of INDCs (Intended Nationally Determined Contributions) at the earliest.
He wished the experts at the conference organized by Integrated Research and Action for Development (IRADe) to contribute towards constructive discourse on Climate Change actions.
