GEORGES SEGUY WAS A MAJOR PLAYER OF FRENCH UNION CGT “Georges Seguy has been a major player in the social life of our country during the 15 years in which he headed the CGT, 1967-1982. Georges Seguy dies at 89 and has left its imprint the social scene, particularly during the 1968 strikes that led to the Grenelle agreements of which he was a key architect.“ President Hollande Said "He died early yesterday afternoon" following a "disease", told AFP Elyane Bressol, president of IHS, which said the former secretary general of the CGT " was hospitalized for several days in hospital Montargis in the Loiret ". As a Railwayman, he joined the Federation CGT confederation and became its secretary general in 40 years. Georges Seguy has left its imprint the social scene, particularly during the 1968 strikes that led to the Grenelle agreements of which he was a key architect. Throughout his life, he embodied an offensive unionism. Ready to engage struggles but also to negotiate good compromise. It thus participated in numerous social progress in our country. Georges Seguy had wanted to continue his activism transferring his experience to the new generations, including as President of the Institute of Social History of the CGT.
